Just Earrings

I've been lax about my blog the last few weeks.. truthfully it's the time factor.  As in I have very limited amounts of it.  However I'm trying to catch up alittle, so here are some earrings I made a few weeks ago, some of them are already gone of course... but as always if you see something you like, yell maybe I can do something similar.  I really like the earrings in the upper right corner, it's a mix of vintage screws and new screws... I like the stacking, I think I'll be making more of these!  the clock nobs upside down in the lower right is pretty sweet as well, and I love the brass and pearl ones.

random thoughts

This weekend is the steampunk show in Boone...  Getting ready for my darling Daughter's graduation from high school and then the joint grad party for her and for her Dad, who now has 2  shinny new degrees to add to his Anthropology degree of 20 + years ago...

BUSY!

but never too busy for making earrings!  (Only for washing dishes)

The last weekend of May is my first Farmer's Market of the year... wheee!!

And then I can fall down in a heap for like 5 minutes, as we won't have another show til Mid-June.  Yes, Kat has breaks this year in the show schedule, who would have thought???

(I'm negotiating a quickie girl's weekend one of those free June weekends... hint hint Cathie & Sue)

Speaking of Random Acts of Kindness, while we were in the Quad cities this weekend, someone did a pay it forward on it.... bought us diner! wow!

Love this stuff!! We have done a couple of things to carry it forward this week, but telling about it seems like bragging... so just know we are doing our parts.  Go out and give someone a tip for $20.00, or pic up someone Else's tab or just compliment someone on a kewl shirt... it's amazing how good you feel and how good the other person will!!!

Jerry wants more Hawaiian shirts.  I guess it's been a few years since I found a decent ( read: gawds awful ) one for him... hm.....

For some strange reason, orange ( melon actually) seems to be my favorite color today, it's normally Cobalt.  I saw a gal wearing a skirt with little flowers on the edges in this color today and it's just stuck in my mind and won't leave.

I wonder if I have any beads that are the right color?

Is everyone watching I-Zombie on the WC?  if you are not, you are missing out!

Tonight I'm making up rings and pendants using watch parts, while catching up on house work.  (laundry and toilets today, ugh)

What fun ( or not so fun ) things are going on in your house tonight?

Random Acts Of Kindness

Life has been..... harsh, lately.  Not Armageddon bad, just rushed and uncomfortable and a tad  depressing.  I won't bore you with details, because well, I won't.

But a random act of kindness made my day.  It's sooo easy to forget how just a tiny piece of consideration can go so very very far.

I was running late to my day job, and near strangers ( as in we work at the same company but not on the same floor so I don't know their names but recognize them from just being in the same building) not only held the elevator longer than the unofficial 3 second office building rules, but they even pressed my floor button for me -- with out me saying it.  They knew me enough to know what floor I am on!!

Such a small thing, but really, it brightened my day.  The best thing is I doubt they have any idea how it effected me, it's just cause they are nice folks.

It got me to thinking about random acts of kindness and how good it made me feel to receive... and how good it feels to pass it on.

At the junk Jubilee a gal with long hair joked she needed a hair scrunchy when I asked if I could help her.  She and her mom didn't buy anything, but I remembered as they left the booth I had one tucked in my bag for emergencies .. so I  followed her into the next booth and gave it to her.  She was astonished and offered to pay for it, and I turned her down, because honestly the grin on her face when I presented it to her was payment enough.  It brightened my day giving her that -- a random act of kindness cuts both ways!

I've resolved that I"m going to actively start seeking out ways to pass on that kind of happy.     The tiny bits of happy that anyone can enjoy.

Cause really, what else can we control in our lives, but those little moments of shared joy?
